Here lies Education, buried in a landslide of White papers.
It was once fun to work as a teacher until all the reforms came along.
Reforms - more frequent than a number 73 bus.
The more the reforms came and the more the staff left.
So, sod off Blair.
Sod off Kelly and thanks for nothing.

Working in prison education, but not through a provider we are also aware of education going through it death throes.
Until next March we are funded by the DfES through funds allocated two years ago. Next March we come under the control of the LSC, and to put it bluntly they don't want us.
We are a hot potato. Being prison staff (civil servants0 we can only transfer over to the LSC by a system called OLASS but to do so we would be required to TUPE out of the prison service and join the local provider. LSC know that we will resist TUPE as we dont want to lose the pension and protection of working for the prison service. On top of that the project that I am part of PICTA (Prison ICT Academy) is partfunded by CISCO who also do not want the LSC'c to get their grubby hands on our project. As a project we are a group of 20 prisons county wide who act as one unit, saring best practises and ideas through bi monthly gatherings. Also we are constantly 'toppin-up' our own learning to ensure our students are given the best possible chances (this has recently included NLP training). By going to LSC the project will fragment into 6 different regions all autonomous resulting in the death of the project.
So we have been trying to ensure our own continum through links with outside bodies like BECTA who's Fred GArnett is all for developing our e-learning projects to a much wider audience.
I will be reading your blog with utmost relish to see how FE problems are developing in other areas.
