It was in the Sunday Times today that the LSC is the UK's largest quango costing a staggering £8.5bn a year. With the costs of the colleges taken out, at £4.75bn, that still leaves a staggering amount of £3.25bn. ![]()
It would be really useful to see the accounts of the LSC for them to show what the taxpayers are getting for their money.
Despite the LSC re-structure earlier this year, there was the setting up of another "Agent of Change" the QIA, Quality Improvement Agency and then another, the LSN, Learning Skills Network, which seem to use consultants at £400 a day going round colleges doing kak all. ![]()
Close the LSC, and all these phoney agencies, give the money back to the Local Education Authorities, we don't need these giant leeches on our backs any more.
Ask yourself, have standards in education risen since we had the likes of the LSC or its forerunner, the FEFC (c 1993-2000)? I have a better way. Get rid of the LSC, all the bean-counting bullshitting consultants and agencies, hire more teachers, train them well, pay them the same as schools, and push standards up in FE that way.
A staggering amount of children still can't write or add up in this country as the GCSE results in Maths and English showed once again.
There you are Sunday afternoon rant over.
Back to work tomorrow...now I'm really looking forward to that.
Oh and Scoltland won 6-0![]()
