It's bonfire night and 50 days to Christmas!
I wonder what's going to be on the Tellybox this Christmas?
The Royle Family this week was I thought excellent (still brings a tear to they eye when I think) and I hope there is a new series of it coming soon. Please please Please put this on again at Christmas. I really must get out the DVD from our Library with the first series which I think I missed.
There's got to be a Harry Potter film, Lord of the Rings or some Tom Cruise type Mission Impossible yarn where Tommy saves the world - again.
I am a big fan of sword and sandals epics like Gladiator and films like Ben Hur (...Loved Ben, hated Hur.....:-)...the old ones are the best)
You can bet your life though that these films will be appearing in the next 50 days, probably in this order too,
Xmas day...3pm Goldfinger... "No we expect you to die, Mr Bond"
Boxing day...2pm...The Great Escape... "How many people are you taking out" Some of the lines have to be among the campest ever in films. Listen to Angus Lennie when he's in the Cooler with McQueen..."What did you do in college Hiltz, study physical education?"
Boxing day night...9pm...Four Weddings and a Funeral....Feck, feck feck its floppy haired Hughie G again.
If you have any ideas for films (Film 4 seems to have made a start) for the tellybox, please pass them on to the BBC, ITV and SKY because their controllers don't seem to have much of a fecking idea.
There must be an old, battered, green filing cabinet in the cellar that contains a dusty old folder marked - 'Christmas Schedule' that gets dusted off each year when Christmas comes around.
I'm convinced the whole day is taped in advance and we are the willing receptors of a mass subliminal hypnosis experiment through TV that is carried out once a year, that the government use to put everyone to sleep in order to contol our minds...(I think you should go back to bed Billy...Saturday night hasn't wore off yet...Ed).
Have a safe bonfire night chums and here's looking forward to Christmas.
Billy
